forest folly
A fairytale gingerbread home? A Moorish palace? This jungle-choked Havana Forest beauty used to be the pleasure gardens of La Tropical brewery. Havana socialites would party in the mini Alhambra palace, sway to orchestra symphonies, and dance through humid nights in the Dream Hall pavilion beneath a ceiling studded with giant cement starfish. Today, it’s a beer grotto with booze served out of the back of the old chapel to thirsty explorers seeking out views of the vine-tangled Almendares River. Havana’s hottest musical evenings also shake up this buried-in-the-trees address.
